This is a reminder to all our neighbors of the open invitation to join the PP@L Book Club.
The Book Club meets in the Library on the Fourth Floor at 7:00 PM on the second Tuesday of every month. The discussions are informal and informative—and a lot of fun!
The reading schedule through the end of the year is below. You may notice the reading list of the Mercantile Library’s First Wednesday book group. This curated selection leads to an interesting mix of fiction and non-fiction, current and classics.
Date | Book |
October 12 | Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust
· 336 pages · Young adult fiction that is “an alluring feminist fairy tale” about a girl cursed to be poisonous to the touch and who discovers what power might lie in such a curse. |
November 9 | Homeland Elegies by Ayad Akhtar
· 338 pages · This “beautiful novel . . . has echoes of The Great Gatsby“: an immigrant father and his son search for belonging—in post-Trump America, and with each other. |
December 14 | My Antonia by Willa Cather
· 144 pages · An autobiographical novel about the settling of Nebraska written in lyrical prose that offers a view of the life of immigrants and the natural beauty of the Great Plains. |

Hello Park Place at Lytle Residents,
For those of you that I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet, my name is Sheryl Waite and I am your new Community Service Admin! I’ve been with Towne Properties for 4 plus years as a Customer Service Administrator, working with your Association Manager, Jay Hollmeyer. Since Towne took over Park Place in June, I have been the administrative support for the property from our corporate office. I will continue to do so but will also be on-site 16 hours a week.
Starting Monday, October 4th I’ll be working on-site Monday – Thursday 8:30 am – 12:30 pm. While I’ll be walking the property and meeting with Rick and the front door attendants, I will also have office hours posted for you to come speak to me, review suite reservations, ledgers, or any other general questions you may have.
I’m excited to build a relationship with all of you and would love any feedback about the property you can give me. Looking forward to meeting all of you in person next month!
Regards,
Sheryl Waite
Community Service Administrator
